Not All Down Coat are Created Equal!

In recent years, down coats have taken over our wardrobe. People love its pretty colours, lightness and warmth. However, do you know that there are different qualities of down coats? There are so many choices in the market, so how do you choose the right one?

How are down coats measured?

The fluffiness of a down jacket and its insulation ability is measured in terms of down fill power. The higher the value, more are the air packets that retain heat.

It gives an idea of the quality of materials used in the creation of a down jacket. The down fill power ranges from 400 to 900. Generally, for the down jackets that are widely available, the rating varies from 600 to 800.

Fill Power

Along with the above mentioned factors, there is one more measure that denotes the percentage of down in comparison to the percentage of feathers and this quantity will be printed in the form of a ratio. For example, it might be written as 70/30. Our premium quality down jackets use 90% down and 10% feather.

With the increase in down to feather ratio, the fill power will be more. With the percentage of feathers being more, the fill power reduces and thereby, the insulating abilities of the down jacket will be lesser. Mamaway down jackets have a fill power of 750, so you and your child can warm up in the winter
